Last Summer in Stinky Town

Being back home in Stinky Town after spending nearly a month away is strange. Yesterday, I walked around my neighborhood of six years and kept thinking I was in San Francisco - but the people and storefronts looked so out of place. Last night, on the way home after a movie, I heard a seagull and I was back in Maine for a moment. Then, the other noises drowned it out and the humidity reminded me of where I was. New York always reminds you of where you stand.

My last summer in Stinky Town ended not here at all, but on the ends of both coasts.
